Outdoor Spaces
Part of the mission of Carmel Hills Care Center is to enhance the well-being and quality of life of each resident by fostering strength, confidence, and independence. Our courtyards, gardens, and walking paths support this mission by encouraging movement, interaction with nature, and socializing.
Being able to move freely in and out of doors accelerates rehabilitation. Outdoor activity, whether independent or therapist-led, helps residents maintain strength and agility and improve their overall physical function.
Natural spaces have therapeutic benefits that contribute greatly to health and healing. Exposure to natural light and environments has been shown to improve mood and reduce symptoms of depression. Nature can also lower cortisol levels, reduce stress, and improve cognitive function.
Our peaceful outdoor spaces also offer comfortable places for residents to interact and share experiences. Participating in outdoor group activities or simply visiting with friends on a sunny bench helps residents build a sense of community during their stay.
